Prepping for your Photoshoot
Scheduling your Session
Most parents schedule their shoot when they are between 30-35 weeks along. Your baby bump will be showing, but you will still be comfortable enough to move around and pose.
I aim to shoot through golden hour for majority of my shoots. It’s that warm, sunshiny time just before the sun sets where the light is low and casts soft shadows. If shooting indoors, we will start a little earlier in order to get the best available light inside. When booking your session, we will chat about what you are wanting in your final gallery, check sunset times for your location, and plan the best time to meet for your shoot.
What to Wear
My best advice? Be you! These photos are about reflecting the best of you and should reflect your style. But here are a few suggestions that can help!
Avoid clothing with large logos or wording as it can be distracting.
Try to coordinate colors, not match. Mix patterns and solids between you and your partner to create a dynamic look.
Dress in layers. Start with a fitted dress or top to show off that bump! Then adding a jacket or cute hat is an easy way to quickly change up your look without having to entirely change your outfit.
Make sure to test out any new shape or bra wear with your attire before your shoot. A lot of pregnancy dresses are very fitted to show off your bump and you should feel comfortable in your outfit beforehand.

Where to Go
Want to show off that bare belly without being in public? We can start your session in your home, or cute bnb, to give you some privacy and more intimate photos. Lighting is key, so the location should have windows that allow for natural sun for the best photos.
If shooting outdoors, look for locations with a diverse area for backdrops, like somewhere with a walk through the woods to a lakeside trail. Room to walk around is great, but avoid anything with too much of a hike so nobody gets too hot and tired for photos.
In need of suggestions? Just ask me! I know plenty of great places across the state and we can find just the right fit for you.
