Prepping for your Photoshoot
What to Wear
My best advice? Be you! These photos are about reflecting the best of you and should reflect your style. But here are a few suggestions that can help!
Purchase new bras (unless you keep perfect care and never just chuck yours in the wash like me) but nobody wants fabric pilling or stained underarms in their photos!
Take a look into getting a professional fitting to make sure you have the best bra for your body type. Cup spilling and back bulge are nobody’s friend (and happen to the best of us!) but can be avoided with correctly fitted attire.
Make sure to try on all of your items before your shoot. There might be something you think you like, but is actually incredibly uncomfortable and not a good fit for your session.
Start with the outfit that makes you feel the most confident. For most, this is usually the outfit that gives them the most coverage until they’re comfortable with being in front of the camera.
Bring more outfits than you need! I’ll help narrow down outfit selections and accessories to give you the best results for your gallery.
Taking these photos as a wedding gift? Bring your veil, wedding shoes, perfume, and jewelry to include in your shoot!
Bring a shirt of your partner’s or their favorite sports jersey for a little extra shout out to them in your gallery
If you’re feeling more modest, bring along some pasties to avoid accidental nip slips.
If you’re feeling really lost, take a look at my pinterest for some inspiration! We can even create a board together for your session.
Other Tips
Please, for the love of everything, DO NOT spray tan before your session. Let me tell you, this is a girl who loves a good tan, but it tends to look splotchy (especially in those detail shots) and rubs off on your attire and bed sheets.
Make all waxing appointments for a day or two before to avoid any redness or irritation. Do Not wax for the very first time right before your photoshoot, try to set up a series so you and your skin know what to expect.
Make sure your nails (hands and toes) and clean or painted. It’s always a bummer when you notice that chipped polish in every photo.
Where to Go
Lighting is key when it comes to great photos, so if you’re looking to do a session in your home, make sure the room has plenty of natural light available. You’ll also want minimal decor and a solid or soft patterned bedspread. If you’re wanting to do a studio session, check out some of my recommended hourly studio and bnb rentals.
Shooting in nature is also always an option! If you have access to private land (or you aren’t worried about your neighbors) your session can take place in the great outdoors.
